It is the mission of the Waldo County YMCA to promote the physical, mental, social, and spiritual development of Waldo County children and families.

Active Older Adults

These programs are open to folks 50 years and older

These activities do not occur during school vacation weeks or summer break.

You do not have to be a Waldo County Y member to participate! Please join us!

Some classes do not happen during the summer months or school vacations,
please check with the YMCA to verify class times.

Water Color Painting Classes
Day: Monday, 10:00 a.m. - Noon
Cost: FREE to all
This group is an informal gathering of folks who enjoy painting. Special attention to beginners. Please bring your own supplies. Takes place in upper lobby.

Senior Men's Basketball
Monday & Friday, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
FREE to all
Join us for an informal game of basketball. Play for fun with friends!

Tuesday, Begins at 10:00 a.m.
FREE to all
Originated in China, played by 4 players with a set of 136 tiles based on Chinese Characters and symbols.

**Meets 3rd Wednesday**
Day: Wednesdays, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Cost: FREE to all. We get our books from the local Library
The group will select a new book to read each month based on selections indicated by the participants.

Day: Wednesdays, 8:00 - 10:30 a.m.
Cost: FREE to all
Join others 50+ for pickup games. Badminton can be a great workout!


Day: Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Cost: FREE to all
All levels of ability are welcome.

Pickle Ball

Day: Thursdays, 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.
Cost: FREE to all
Played on a badminton court. All levels of ability are welcome. The YMCA provides the court set up, playing ball and a limited number of rackets. **During the Summer Months the group meets at the Belfast City Park**

Knitting Group
This group works independently knitting hats and lap quilts for our local children and the hospital for new babies and cancer patients. Please bring in your contributions to donate! We just delivered hats to Oncology and Maternity at the local hospital, and donated to the children in our own YMCA Preschool and the local schools.
