Our Before & After School Handbook

Our before and aftercare program is for children in grades K-5. We open at 7:00 a.m. and children are picked up by the bus at 8:30 and brought to school. At 3:30 the buses drop the kids back off for an afternoon of fun. Our program provides a safe, fun, nurturing place for kids to go after school. Our staff is well trained, fun and energetic. Kids in our after school program are offered a variety of things to do daily. An after school snack is provided as well. Our program is open until 6:00 p.m.

Activity offerings
in the Afterschool program
at the YMCA:

Motiv8ed 2-Move fitness club offers both circuit training and cardio kickboxing classes from our trained fitness instructors. The children are really enjoying these classes!

Cooking club helps children with learning not only how to prepare new dishes that they can share with their families, but how to clean up in the kitchen after the cooking is done! They have made Turkey Sheppard’s Pie, cookies for St Patrick’s Day and fresh fruit smoothies to name a few...

Culture Club The children have gotten a chance to learn about Australia, Italy, Brazil, and Germany. We have guest speakers from our area come in and share their experiences from around the world with the children. We also make snacks, play games, do arts & crafts and learn new songs from the country were learning about each month.

Knitting club has two volunteers who come in once a week. They work with our children teaching them how to knit and helping to improve the skills of those who already have previous experience in knitting. This club is becoming more and more popular every week.

Pool games for K-2 grades and 3-5 grades in our after school program. We are breaking down the children by age groups in order to play more age appropriate games. We are also be having some free swim time available each week for our children to enjoy.

Penpal Club for our kids to write to children in other afterschool programs in California.
